Maren Mayer-Schwieger, M.A., studied German literature and journalism in Karlsruhe as well as cultural and media studies at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar. From 2011 to 2015 she was a fellow of the interdisciplinary Evonik Graduate School “Reconsidering Industry” at Ruhr-University Bochum. Currently she lives and works in Vienna where she is researching on histories, concepts and practices of ecology, on smart cities, and on media of non-human (trans-)formations notably bacteria, beetles and stones. In Vienna she was also involved in projects at the intersection between art, research and intervention such as the SelfSightSeeingCompany and the Palais des Beaux Arts, a project for site-specific media-art. Maren Mayer-Schwieger taught at (art) universities in Austria and Germany, with a focus on seminars and workshops discussing alternative ways of life and thinking life differently.
