Manuel Scheiwiller lives and works in Athens and Istanbul. Manuel has studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, the Amsterdam Theatre School, The School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem, and the State Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgart. His performance The Night of the Wild Cannibals was shown at Kunsthalle Basel in 2009. In collaboration with Tomislav Feller he has founded Contemporary Cruising – a Performance collective that turned into an online magazine. Contemporary Cruising has been presented at Les Urbaines, Lausanne, Plaforma.HR, Croatia and BLA, basis for Live Art, Arti, Amsterdam. The website is an online news blog and archive dedicated to performances. In November 2011 Manuel Scheiwiller received the Swiss performance prize in Geneva for his Performance Studio Visit. The show continued to Theater Basel, Hebel am Ufer Berlin and Sonnenstube in Locarno. Since 2012 Scheiwiller has toured together with Anna Holz, Lucia Prusa and Simon Speiser under the name PCNC_BAY – a nomadic exhibition space and work collective based in Vienna. Together with Basil Schu he curated Insomnia in 2014, a late night exhibition at Kunsthalle Vienna. Manuel Scheiwiller is currently curating the Manifesta performance program at Cabaret Voltair in Zurich.
