Imagine a matrass on a dirty floor. Imagine a fight between lovers that happened the night before. She wakes up with a swollen face. Swollen arms. Swollen legs. Swollen from alcohol and violence. She fell four times on their way home and fainted in the middle of the wet street. Imagine the next morning, on that matrass. Slowly waking up to a peaceful grey day. Seagulls are crying into the opened window. The icy air is touching her hot sweaty skin. He says good morning and sees beauty as she slowly opens her eyes and looks straight at him.
Good morning is a photo series from 2015 and has never been exhibited publically before. It is a series that depicts reality. The story is real, and the method of reconciliation between the two lovers was photography. The series was created spontaneously, out of a necessity of lovers to communicate without words. A non-verbal narrative was created as a result.
The photographic language in my works is inspired by Nan Goldin, especially by her “Ballad of Sexual Dependency”. In my photographic works, I am the protagonist, sharing secrets, my private life, or acting out different aspects of my personality, my desires or my life. My work is a mixture between autobiography and imagination, with autobiography being the centre. All photographs are non-edited originals.
I would be very happy to finally share this work with a broad public and I strongly believe in the strength of its language. For this work to live, the dichotomy of private and public is central, therefore it is crucial to show it to a public. I hope I will get the possibility to use this great opportunity.
