Art Talks: Melodie Mousset

Mélodie Mousset (*1981 in Abu Dhabi) is a french artist based in Zurich, Switzerland. She studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Rennes, EBAR, France, Ecole Cantonale d‚ Art de Lausanne, ECAL, Switzerland, the Royal College of Arts, London, and completed her Masters of Fine Arts at the California Institute of the Arts CALARTS in Valencia, California.
Oscillating between virtual and physical realms, Mélodie’s artistic investigations around the body unfolds in surrealist narratives through numerous media: performance, video, installation, photography, sculptures and interactive media. She received the Swiss Art Award for her first VR installation We were looking for ourselves in each other in 2015, and her work is regularly exhibited in Europe and internationally. Mélodie has been an associate professor at ECAL, Switzerland since 2015. Created in 2017 HanaHana 花華 is an outgrowth of Mélodie’s ongoing exploration of the liminal space between technology and self. Her work features among international public and private collections, and has been exhibited at institutions and galleries worldwide, including MOCA (Museum Of Contemporary Arts), Los Angeles; Kunsthaus Aargau; MAC (Musée d’Art Contemporain) Lyon; The Metropolitan Art Society, Beirut; Susanne Vielmetter Project, Los Angeles; Barbara Seiler Gallery, Zurich; SALTS 2017; Last Tango, Zürich 2018.
